My wife and I are striving to become “Sunday Drivers” – where we drive to a new mountain bike trail every Sunday. A few weekends ago, we had the pleasure of riding Charleston Park Trails, located in Cumming, GA. With its stunning lake views, twisty single track, and a Sasquatch sighting, it was a memorable eMTB ride!
A Fast and Fun Fiver!
Charleston Park offers a 5.5-mile network of cross-country singletrack trails along the edges of Lake Sidney Lanier in North Forsyth County. These trails, well maintained by RAMBO (Roswell Alpharetta Mountain Biking Organization), are generally rated as intermediate, featuring short and long climbs, descents, roots, and rocks.
The climbs made us work, and while I ran Eco mode for most of the trail, I had to downshift and even pop into Tour mode a few times. Great workout! The descents were fun and fast, and outside of a few spots, the roots and rocks were not all that bad, at least by Georgia standards. We ran into some wet clay a few times, usually on a hill 🙄, so we went home carrying some of the trail with us on our bikes and backs.
The trail was a little busy, and it appeared to be about a 70/30 split between hikers and bikers. The trails are e-mountain bike friendly, and so were the numerous hikers (most with dogs) and bikers that we ran into.

Oh, and there was a Sasquatch sighting! Be watchful of your surroundings as you ride through the trail, you may just see the big guy lurking about. If you do, there is a QR code to scan and find out more information about the counties park system. A fun little Easter Egg.
At 5.5 miles, total for both trails, we were on the fence about doing another run, but it was the first warm Sunday of the year, and we were hot, hungry, and beer ready.
Cold Beer with Dogs
To quench our thirst and fill our bellies, we took a short ride to the Hall and Hound Brewing Company. My wife and I both opted for the Smash Burger, with sides of Sweet Potato Fries and some delicious Crispy Brussel Sprouts, yummy! To wash all that good food down, with a couple of cold drafts: Roadhouse Dad Bod Red Ale and a Creature Comforts Classic City Lager. Absolutely delicious post-ride meal, and a relaxing experience as we sat outside among families and their dogs.
